the sailor and his girl
my bonnie lies across the ocean
she watches me above the waves
her heart's a home where I have room
to rest my head for days
she calls me hers, I made her mine
though she is dark and I am light
she holds my torch and lets it shine
while I sail off into the night
my body's strong, her heart is too
when I leave her on the shore
we rise and fall just like the tide
for us there always will be more
